INGRIDIENTS

  • ¼ kg (1/2 lb.) Melted Lard 
  • 1 kg (2 lbs.) Prepared Flour for Tamales 
  • ¾ Cups Sugar 
  • 1 tsp of Baking Powder 
  • Prepared Chicken Stock Broth 
  • Corn Husks (Soaked) 
  • 1 Can La Costeña Guava Paste (24.5 oz. / 700 g) Sliced Thinly 
  • 100 g ( 3 ½ oz.) Pine Nuts (Optional)

HOW TO

To make these delicious Guava Tamales dia de los Reyes, beat together lard, sugar, baking powder and enough stock for 20 minutes to obtain thick dough. Place a small ball of dough into a glass of cold water: if it floats, it’s ready; if not, continue beating. Place a spoonful of dough on each moistened corn husk; add a slice of Guava Paste and pine nuts and seal. Steam for 1 hour.
