Gorditas ©

Ingredients:

  • 1⁄2 lb chorizo
  • 1 lb steak
  • 1⁄2 onion
  • Lettuce
  • 1 tomato
  • Sour cream
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • LA COSTEÑA GREEN MEXICAN SALSA
  • LA COSTEÑA TAQUERA SAUCE

Ingredients for dough:

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1⁄2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp chicken broth powder

Directions:

To make Gorditas ©, in a pan over medium high heat add chorizo and fry. Transfer chorizo to a bowl. The leftover grease from the chorizo can be used to cook the steak. When steak cooked add onion and the chorizo. Mix and cook for 5 minutes. Form mass into round balls and press with hands to form in a shape of a medium patty. You can add cheese if desired. Transfer Gordita into a pan with oil over medium high heat. Make sure the oil is hot. Fry for about two minutes on each side. Using a sharp serrated knife, split masa shells in half crosswise. Then stuff it with the meat. For toppings you can add lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Complement your gorditas with LA COSTEÑA GREEN MEXICAN SAUCE OR LA COSTEÑA TAQUERA SAUCE. Enjoy !

Directions for dough: Prepare the dough in a bowl, mixing the masa harina, salt, flour, chicken broth powder, oil, baking powder and warm. Stir to combine. Using your hands, knead the dough for a minute or two in the bowl. The dough is ready when it’s smooth, but no longer sticky.
